Greetings from historic St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue in New York City! Cardinal Dolan, along with Fr. Salvo are looking forward to expanding the evangelization and service outreach arising from the Cathedral community. Several months ago, a brand-new ministry known as “Our Lady’s Hands”, was initiated. This ministry will offer opportunities to encounter Christ through many different paths. The main goal of “Our Lady’s Hands” is to help parishioners encounter and grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and grow as a community by helping those in need. We forming a four-category system of events and services to accomplish this goal.
The first category is “Disciple.” This category will connect people on a greater level to the Sacraments of the Church. The Cathedral offers many Masses, Confession and prayer daily. This expansion will increase the styles of sacramental events. For example, many more evening adoration times will be offered, accompanied by sacred music.
The second category, known as the “Friend” category, will open new doors for parishioners to learn more about the Catholic faith. We will be providing monthly speakers from across the world, bible studies, a brand new RCIA program, and various retreats throughout the year.
The third category, known as the “Acquaintance” category, will provide parishioners with the opportunity to participate in all the apostolic works of the Church. There will be monthly opportunities to minister to those who are homeless, homebound, in the hospital and in prison.
Lastly, the “Seeker” category will give parishioners the chance to unite and grow in relationship as a parish community. We will host wine socials, movie screenings, outings to attend Yankees and Mets games, jazz nights, and other social events.
All of this is only possible with your ongoing and generous support. Our hope is that with the variety of offerings, one of these programs will inspire your specific support to help us make our homeless outreaches, speaker series, and our new RCIA program come to life. Will you be a beacon of light for others and make a gift to fuel “Our Lady’s Hands” ministry at St. Patrick’s?
