The Cathedral Choir is open only by audition. Auditions for professional singers are not being held at this time. Auditions for volunteer singers are by appointment only and are held on weekday afternoons during the months of July, August, September, October, January and February (until Ash Wednesday).
Because of the long history of excellence that is affiliated with the Choir of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, auditions are rigorous. At the least, we look for singers who are able to read music at a very proficient level, sing in tune without excessive vibrato and sing in tempo without getting lost in the score. Part of the audition will include sight-reading medium to difficult choral scores. Please do not consider requesting an audition unless you are able to make a nine-month commitment per year.
