Our Neighbors Program
In existence for more than 30 years, the Our Neighbors Program serves a number of older adults living in the New York City community. To help meet the social need of these older adults, the program’s weekly luncheon offers an opportunity for them to come together as a community. The highlight of this weekly get together is the meal which is most often donated by local restaurants such as, The St. Regis, The Waldorf=Astoria, Cellini, Fresco and 21 Club. Activities are available before and after the meal and generally include a light exercise program, a lecture or workshop on a topic of interest to the participants or musical entertainment or a movie and bridge. The luncheon program runs from mid-September to mid-December and from February through mid-June. When possible, volunteers provide friendly visiting and on occasion provide escort service to doctor appointments. In addition, outings in the spring and fall are planned to places of interest. For more information, please contact Roberta Shea, Director of Volunteer Services and Our Neighbor Program, at 212.355.2749. |
